DWI Saturation Patrols
The O’Fallon Police Department recently conducted DWI Saturation Patrols between the days of March 13 and March 20. The saturation patrols were conducted in high DWI violation areas, as well as on state and city roadways. These areas included Mexico Road, Route K, Route M, Interstate 70, Bryan Road, Outer Roads and 364 Outer Road.
This effort was part of an ongoing effort to reduce impaired driving on O’Fallon roadways, and included multiple officers working five hour overtime shifts.
During the DWI Saturation Patrols, a total of 10 suspects were arrested for Driving While Intoxicated and one person was arrested on outstanding warrants. A total of 44 citations were issued during the 35 overtime hours worked, of which 18 were moving violations.
This detail also included funds provided specifically for the weekend of March 12 through 14, as a result of the St. Patrick’s Day weekend. These funds were provided solely by the Missouri Safety Center and involved 10 of the overtime hours worked.
Funding for this effort was provided through grants from the Missouri Department of Transportation’s Highway Safety Division in cooperation with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and the Missouri Safety Center.
Speed Enforcement Detail
The O’Fallon Police Department recently conducted a Speed Enforcement Detail between March 18 and March 23. During this detail, 16 officers worked 72 overtime hours consisting of one block of four hour shifts. The focus of this detail was the problem of excessive speeding in residential areas along with the speeding on major roadways in O’Fallon. The residential areas that were focused on were Legacy Pointe, Springhurst, Calumet Ranch, Mexico Road, Walden Pond and WingHaven.
During the detail, a total of 222 citations were issued and of the citations issued 127 were for speeding violations. A total of 169 traffic stops were conducted during the enforcement detail.
