DWI and speed enforcement patrols conducted

The O’Fallon Police Department recently conducted DWI Saturation Patrols on the days of February 13, 16, 19 and 20.
The saturation patrols were conducted in high DWI violation areas, as well as on state and city roadways. These areas included Mexico Road, Route K, Route M, Interstate 70, Bryan Road, Outer Roads and 364 Outer Road.
This effort was part of an ongoing effort to reduce impaired driving on O’Fallon roadways and included multiple officers working five hour overtime shifts.
During the DWI Saturation Patrols, a total of four suspects were arrested for Driving While Intoxicated. A total of 50 citations were issued during the 31.5 overtime hours worked, of which 32 were moving violations.
Funding for this effort was provided through grants from the Missouri Department of Transportation’s Highway Safety Division in cooperation with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and the Missouri Safety Center.

The O’Fallon Police Department recently conducted a LIDAR Speed Enforcement Detail on February 25, 2010. During this detail 8 officers worked 32 overtime hours, consisting of one block of four hour shifts.
The focus of this detail was the problem of excessive speeding on Eastbound Interstate 70 in the area of TR Hughes overpass. Speed measurements were taken by an officer on top of the TR Hughes overpass at Interstate 70 as vehicles passed the overpass.
During the detail a total of 82 citations were issued and 52 of them were for speeding violations. In addition, 2 subjects were arrested on active warrants. A total of 55 traffic stops were conducted during the enforcement detail.
