Trip features 150th anniversary of Civil War
July 17, 2011
O’Fallon, MO
Some of the first shots of the American Civil War were fired in St. Louis 150 years ago, and – like the nation – the city of St. Louis and the state of Missouri remained divided throughout the war – north versus south, industry versus farming, slave versus freeman.
To commemorate the 150th anniversary of the beginning of the Civil War, board the motor coach at 8 a.m. on Wednesday, September 14, for an unforgettable trip to historic Civil War sites in and around St. Louis, including the Old Courthouse – site of the infamous Dred Scott case – to the U.S. Arsenal at Camp Jackson, Bellefontaine Cemetery (where many Civil War notables are interred, the Missouri History Museum, Jefferson Barracks, and others. The motor coach will return to O’Fallon by 5 p.m.
Cost of the commemorative trip is $70 for O’Fallon residents, and $78 for non-residents, and includes transportation, an escort, gratuities, lunch and tours. For more information about the trip, contact Paula Creech at 636-474-8121 or pcreech@ofallon.mo.us.
