The O’Fallon Police Department is initiating a program to address issues facing local religious institutions. Matters such as eliminating asset losses, property and building security and personal safety have become concerns in places of worship.

Based off the “Neighborhood Watch” program, the “Church Watch” program will describe susceptive areas attractive to criminals in order to learn how to avoid becoming a target.

This program will also be an outreach program. Alternative activity possibilities for those considering participating in a crime will be discussed.

The first “Church Watch” meeting is scheduled for Aug. 26 from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the O’Fallon Police Department, 100 North Main in O’Fallon. For those able to attend the meeting, an RSVP, by Aug. 19, is requested to Officer Phillip J. Harden, 636-379-5425.
