Chase evacuates construction zone; strikes van

According to scanner reports:
On Thursday morning, a male driver, suspected of driving under the influence, broke away from an O’Fallon police officer during an arrest in the area of Highways D and 40. During the struggle, the suspect, reportedly tried to reach into his pocket. The subject, wearing one handcuff, fled from police in a silver Chevrolet Silverado.
The vehicle traveled to Highway N near Timberland High School. It continued on Highway Z, then to westbound Interstate 70.
A van was struck by the truck around the Highway Z and I-70 interchange. A police helicopter assisted with visuals.
The truck continued westbound on I-70 through Foristell. A construction zone near the 194 mile marker in Warren County was evacuated in anticipation of the chase reaching the area.
The vehicle drove through spike strips set by police and came to a stop near the Warrenton exit. The subject was placed in custody at about 9:05 a.m.
