Burglary suspect strikes and bites victim

On Oct. 6, 2009, at approximately 4:52 a.m., the O’Fallon Police Department responded to the 1100 block of Spring Orchard Drive in reference to a Burglary in progress.
The investigation revealed a subject unlawfully entered the victim’s residence while the victims were asleep. The suspect, Rebecca Prost, a 19-year-old O’Fallon resident, allegedly removed items from a victim’s purse, which was a wallet with credit cards and cash. One of the victims confronted Prost at which time she fled the residence with the wallet. The same victim gave chase to retrieve the property. Prost struck the victim. A struggle ensued for the property and Prost bit the victim.
Prost gained access to the residence through an open garage door and an unlocked door leading from the garage into the residence. The purse was located in the laundry room when she was discovered by one of the victims.
The St. Charles County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office issued charges of Burglary 1st, with a $25,000 bond. As of Oct. 7, 2009 at 11:11 a.m. Prost was in custody at the St. Charles County Sheriff’s Department.
