On Tuesday, August 3, 2010, from approximately 6 to 10 p.m. neighborhoods throughout the City of O’Fallon are invited to join with thousands of communities nationwide for the Annual National Night Out (NNO) crime and drug prevention event. National Night Out is sponsored by the National Association of Town Watch (NATW) and co-sponsored locally by the O’Fallon Police Department.

National Night Out is designed to: (1) heighten crime and drug prevention awareness; (2) generate support for, and participation in, local anti-crime efforts; (3) strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships; and (4) send a message to criminals letting them know our neighborhoods are organized and fighting back.

From approximately 6 to 10 p.m. on August 3rd, the O’Fallon Police Department invites neighborhoods citywide to “Give Crime and Drugs a Going Away Party.” Residents in O’Fallon and across the nation are asked to lock their doors, turn on their outside lights and spend the evening outside with neighbors. Many O’Fallon neighborhoods will host a variety of events such as block parties, cookouts, flashlight walks, and visits from police. Neighborhood groups do not have to be formally organized Neighborhood Watch groups to participate in NNO. Any neighborhood, civic group, local business, or community group is invited and encouraged to participate. The only requirement is pre-registration with the Police-Community Services Office of the O’Fallon Police Department. To register, obtain information, or schedule a visit by an officer, please call 636-379-5689. Registration is open through July 30th.
