Lake Saint Louis
Two accidents, occurring on consecutive nights, kept authorities busy along the Lake Saint Louis stretch of Interstate 70.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Thursday night’s accident occurred at about 9:40 p.m., when a 2006 Chevrolet Malibu, driven by Josephine V. Mehl, 66, of St. Charles, was traveling eastbound on I-70, near Route A.
A 2005 Kenworth truck, driven by Brian K. Jones, 34, of La Grange, was traveling in the center lane going in the same direction as Mehl. Jones attempted to change lanes into the right lane and struck Mehl’s vehicle, causing her to travel off the left side of the road, strike a concrete barrier and then return to the road, facing the wrong direction in the middle lane.
Mehl sustained minor injuries and was taken to St. Joseph’s Hospital West by St. Charles County Ambulance. Both Mehl and Jones were wearing seatbelts.
Friday evening’s accident occurred at about 9:10 p.m. when Melissa A. Miller, 27, of O’Fallon, was driving a 2006 Chevrolet Cobalt eastbound on Interstate 70, east of Lake Saint Louis Boulevard.
Miller veered left and exited the left side of the roadway when the left front of the car struck a concrete median wall. Miller then reentered the roadway, crossed all lanes, exited the right side of the roadway and came to a stop in a grass embankment.
Miller sustained moderate injuries and was taken to St. Joseph’s Hospital West by St. Charles County Ambulance. Miller was not wearing a seat belt.
