Having exhausted all leads in the case, Lake Saint Louis Police detectives are seeking the public’s help in locating John Ratcliff, Jr. A family member contacted police on November 22 after having repeatedly tried unsuccessfully to contact him since he was last seen two weeks prior.

Ratcliff is a 24-year-old white man described as being 5’8” and weighing approximately 160 pounds. He has brown hair and blue eyes. Ratcliff is believed to have left Lake Saint Louis on November 9, 2010 driving a gold 2004 Kia Optima four-door sedan with heavy damage to the rear passenger-side door. The car’s Missouri license plate number is CE4Z4V. He may have driven toward Texas.

Ratcliff has been diagnosed as bi-polar and schizophrenic and has gone missing in the past. In May 2010 he fled the state believing that terrorists were posing as law enforcement officers when he learned that a warrant had been issued for his arrest related to a peace disturbance charge. He was located in Texas one week after he was reported missing. St. Charles County has an active warrant for Ratcliff’s arrest related to an incident in which he resisted being taken into custody, which may have triggered his recent disappearance. Police urge extreme caution in approaching Ratcliff because it is unknown whether he may be armed.

Anyone with information related to Ratcliff’s whereabouts or the location of the vehicle he is believed to be driving should contact the Lake Saint Louis Police Department Bureau of Investigations at 636-625-8018. Callers who wish to remain anonymous can call the agency’s Tip Line at 636-625-7995 and leave the information in a voice mail recording.
