Barkingly unique Mother’s Day event
May 9, 2009
Lake Saint Louis, MO
A salad luncheon, day at the spa, breakfast in bed: these are typical Mother’s Day affairs. However, a very unconventional event recognized this special holiday today in Lake Saint Louis…a protest rally.
Honoring mother (and father) dogs stuck in puppy mills is the point of today’s Humane Society of the United States Stop Puppy Mills campaign staged in front of many Petland stores, including the one on Ronald Reagan Drive.
Protest organizers stated they are, “asking Petland once again to stop selling puppies.” Any donations of pet food, towels and blankets obtained during the rally, held from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m., will be given to a local shelter.
This is not the first time a “stop puppy mills” campaign has been held in front of Lake Saint Louis’ Petland. See this article and video from the March 15 protest march.
