Accident occurs after driver passes out

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, an accident occurred on Sunday, March 29 at about 11:50 p.m. when Theresa M. Ferguson, 46, of Jefferson City, passed out while traveling eastbound on Interstate 70, just west of Lake Saint Louis Boulevard. She was driving a 2006 Chevrolet Cobalt.
Ferguson swerved to the right and the rear of the vehicle she was driving struck the left front of a 2002 Saturn SL2 being driven by Scott A. Haley, 41, of Wentzville. Haley was also heading eastbound on Interstate 70.
Ferguson then traveled off the right side of the roadway and struck a MODOT sign.
Ferguson suffered minor injuries and was taken to St. Joseph West Hospital by St. Charles County Ambulance.
Both drivers were wearing seat belts at the time of the accident.
