On Sat., July 26, the St. Charles County Parks Department’s Youth Activity Park (YAP) and the Wood + Wheels Skate Shop at O’Fallon will host the third annual skateboard competition, SK8FEST, at the YAP.

The event will be held from 10 a.m. until finish in the YAP’s 33,000-square foot skate park. Competitions will award the best skaters in the Street, Intermediate, Bowl Jam and Highest Ollie competitions.

The Bowl Jam will be open to “skilled” category skaters, while the Street event will be broken into three categories: beginner, skilled and sponsored. Any entrant in one of the other two events is free to participate in the Highest Ollie. Prizes and medals will be awarded to the winners, and all entrants will receive a “goodie” bag and T-shirt.

Registration packets are available at the YAP front desk at 7801 Highway N in Dardenne Prairie and at the Wood + Wheels Skate Shop at 100 Fort Zumwalt Square in O’Fallon. Registration costs $20 per event entered and must be received by July 21.

Last year, more than 100 skaters and 500 spectators participated in the event, which made SK8FEST the largest organized skate competition in St. Charles County.
