Project safe school year
June 13, 2011
St. Charles County, MO
On behalf of the Impaired Driving Prevention Council of Missouri Group the O’Fallon Police Department is proud to announce the Fort Zumwalt West High School was the top school for Project Safe School Year, with 95.5% of the drivers leaving school wearing seatbelts. Since there were no fatalities reported to the Education Group, the percentage of drivers wearing seatbelts was used to award the “safest school”. Fall and Spring seatbelt checks were used to check if drivers leaving school were wearing seatbelts.
The Project Safe School Year was headed by the Impaired Driving Prevention Council of Missouri Group. This was the completion of the first Project Safe School Year. According to the council this year was highly successful. No students at the schools lost their life in a motor vehicle collision. Each student should take pride in this and take the safe driving skills on as they continue their pursuits beyond high school. School administrators and teachers were a part of this project and the activities success would not have been possible without their assistance.
On June 27, 2011 a IDPC/ Project Safe School Year day will be held at the Rascals Baseball
game. Each student and their families from all the schools are invited and discounted tickets
will be offered. At the game a presentation will be made to Fort Zumwalt West High School for
their achievement.
The schools involved were: Fort Zumwalt East High School, Fort Zumwalt West High School,
Fort Zumwalt South High School, Fort Zumwalt North High School, Fort Zumwalt Hope High School, Francis Howell North High School, and Francis Howell Central High School.
