When putting up or taking down holiday decorations this year, chances are you will find some light strands that no longer work. Don’t throw these bad light strands in the trash, recycle them!

Not only do light strands add to landfill costs when thrown in the trash, they can wrap around sorting equipment at Recycle City and cause costly damage. Instead of throwing them away, simply place the light strands in a blue bag and drop it in your trash cart for Thursday or Friday collection. Please do not place other recyclables in the same blue bag as the light strands.

Another option is to bring the non-working light strands to Recycle City. We’ve set up a special container at the drop-off center just for your used light strands.

Recycle City is located at 131 Ecology Drive in St. Peters. Look for signage telling you which container to place the light strands in.
