August 16, 2011
St. Peters, MO
Open auditions for the O’FallonTheatreWorks’ production of Mark Landon Smith’s comedy, A Dickens of a Christmas Carol: A Traveling Travesty in Two Tumultuous Acts, will begin at 1 p.m. on Saturday, August 27, in Civic Hall, 305 Civic Park Drive , O’Fallon Missouri 63366.
The cast calls for four women between the ages of 16 and 60, and three men between the ages of 20 and 60. Rehearsals will begin this fall and be held one or two evenings a week and on Sundays. The play will be performed on the stage at the O’Fallon Municipal Centre (City Hall) December 2 – December 4 and December 9 – 11.
The comedy is follows the story of a stuffy old English theater troupe struggling to put on their 15th annual farewell tour of the Charles Dickens’ story, A Christmas Carol. The company diva decides to fake an illness, certain the production will be cancelled. But the troupe rallies, roles are shuffled at the last minute and the understudy is thrust on stage. Alas, she’s only memorized one line. Then the diva crashes the production, determined to regain the spotlight. The result is madness-upon-mayhem for the cast and crew as everything goes hilariously wrong.
