Meet and greet the author of “The Route 66 St. Louis Cookbook: The Mother Lode of Recipes from the Mother Road” on Saturday, May 23 at Route 66 State Park in Eureka.

Sponsored by the Missouri Department of Natural Resources, this book signing opportunity will take place from 11:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. in the park’s visitor center and is free and open to the public.

Norma Maret Bolin, author of the recently published cookbook, will chat with guests and sign copies of her book. Books will be available to purchase at the signing. This unique cookbook contains more than 150 recipes from more than 115 restaurants and commercial establishments that served travelers on Route 66.

With the recipes spanning many decades, the book offers a special trip back to the tastes of yesteryear. There are also stories of many of the restaurants along with images of vintage postcards, ads, menus and matchbook covers to help tell the stories. Some of the images include Times Beach, the community that once thrived at the park’s location and the 1935 roadhouse and inn building that has been converted and now serves as the park’s visitor center.

A portion of the historic Route 66 runs through the state park. The visitor center includes an interpretive center with displays dedicated to the historic highway. The park also offers hiking, equestrian and bicycling trails, picnicking areas and access to the Meramec River. The park is located two miles east of Eureka, just off Interstate 44.
