Graham Cave State Park celebrates archaeology month

Celebrate Archaeology Month at Archaeology Day Saturday, Sept. 10 at Graham Cave State Park near Danville. The event will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and is free and open to the public.
Gather at Graham Cave to travel back in time through history. Learn about Missouri fur-bearing mammals and see the pelts on display. Participate in events such as spear throwing and nut grinding. You can watch as a professional flintknapper creates points and arrowheads. Descendents of the Graham family will speak about the history of the park and representatives from the University of Missouri's Museum of Anthropology will bring artifacts uncovered during the 1949-1955 excavations at Graham Cave.
Graham Cave, which is a designated National Historic Landmark, was once used as a shelter for inhabitants more than 10,000 years ago.
Graham Cave State Park is located two miles west of Danville off Interstate 70 (Exit 170) on Highway TT.
