Join park staff and experienced guides for Moonlight Bike Rides through the woods and prairies of several St. Charles County parks this year. Open to cyclists of all ages and skill levels, this is a unique opportunity to experience the extensive St. Charles County Parks’ trail system after the sun goes down. To participate in these free opportunities, please register by visiting www.stccparks.org or calling the Parks Department at 636-949-7535.

Participants must provide their own equipment and wear bike-safety helmets. Lights are required on all bikes. For added comfort, guests may also want to bring water, bug spray, and clothes appropriate for the weather.

Moonlight Bike Rides will be offered:

*At Broemmelsiek Park on Feb. 28 (6 p.m.), June 26 (8:30 p.m.), Sept. 24 (7 p.m.), and Nov. 21 (5 p.m.). Broemmelsiek Park’s trails meander over gentle inclines and rolling hills through wooded areas and open plains. Located approximately five miles southwest of the Highway 40 and WingHaven Boulevard interchange on Schwede Road, the park features more than seven miles of natural-surface trail.

*At the Louis H. Bangert Memorial Wildlife Area (Bangert Island) on March 28 (7 p.m.) and Dec. 19 (5 p.m.). Bangert Island’s trails loop through primarily flat terrain along single-track trails of sand and dirt. Located in St. Charles near the intersection of South River Road and Old South River Road, the park features more than three miles of natural surface trail.

*At Indian Camp Creek Park on April 30 (8 p.m.), July 23 (8:30 p.m.), and Oct. 23 (6:30 p.m.). This ride will traverse Indian Camp Creek Park’s mix of flat contour as well as a few steep hills to ascend. Located on Dietrich Road seven miles north of the Interstate 70 and Highway 40/61 interchange, the park features more than 10 miles of single-track trail.

*At Quail Ridge Park on Aug. 21 (8 p.m.). Quail Ridge Park trails combine open, flat areas with steep, wooded hillsides. Located near the intersection of Highway 40 and Interstate 70 off Prospect Road, the park features four miles of natural-surface terrain and three miles of paved surface trail.

St. Charles County Parks programs and trails are offered on a weather-permitting basis. In case of inclement weather or wet conditions, guests should call 636-949-7475 to check operational status.
