All outdoor enthusiasts are encouraged to join St. Charles County Parks personnel, members of REI St. Louis and Gateway Off-Road Cyclists (GORC)  for a Trail Work Day at Indian Camp Creek Park (on Dietrich Road off Highway 61 near Wentzville) on Saturday, June 4.  Volunteers will be assisting the Parks Department from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., carving out trails throughout the 600-acre park.  The Indian Camp Creek Park Trail Work Day is part of the American Hiking Society’s National Trails Day 2011.

“Our volunteers and staff are fundamental in extending the 40 plus miles of natural-surface, paved and multi-use trails available for hikers, bicyclists and horseback riders to enjoy throughout our nine parks currently open to the public,” said Parks Director, Bettie Yahn-Kramer.

American Hiking Society's National Trails Day is the largest and only nationwide trails and outdoor celebration designed to promote healthy lifestyles, connect the general public with trails in their communities and build partnerships to protect trails. Held every first Saturday of June, National Trail Day brings together people who enjoy the outdoors to participate in trail work projects and educational workshops.

To help with the Indian Camp Creek Park Trail Work Day, contact Parks Program Coordinator, Bekin Youngblood at byoungblood@sccmo.org or call (636) 949-7535.  Lunch will be served.
If unfavorable trail conditions exist, contact the St. Charles County Parks Closure/Cancellation Hotline at (636) 949-7475 before heading out.
