Bales of fun at Broemmelsiek include hayrides; hoedown

St. Charles County, MO
Enjoying a crisp, fall evening with family and friends is a favorite childhood memory. To recreate those cherished times, the St. Charles County Parks Department offers group hayrides for up to 20 riders at Broemmelsiek Park each Friday, Saturday, and Sunday evening from Sept. 17 to Nov. 21. Two tractor-drawn wagons depart each hour, and large groups may reserve more than one wagon or time slot on a space-available basis.
Beginning at 6, 7 and 8 p.m. on Fridays and 5, 6, 7, and 8 p.m. on Saturdays/Sundays, the 45-minute hayrides will travel along the park’s wood-lined fields and conclude with a one-hour campfire. Groups may bring non-alcoholic beverages and snacks, but glass containers are prohibited on the wagons or at the campfire. Advanced reservations at least one week in advance are required for the hayrides that cost $125 per wagon. To schedule a time for your group, please call 636-949-7535.
The 494-acre Broemmelsiek Park is designed to focus upon the region’s natural splendor. To get to the park from Highway 40/61, go southwest on Highway DD (WingHaven Boulevard) for approximately four miles to Schwede Road. Turn right on Schwede Road to the park entrance (1615 Schwede Road).

New Hayride Hoedown on Oct. 9
No longer are the Parks Department’s hayrides just for large groups, as the new Hayride Hoedown on Saturday, Oct. 9 allows individual families and small groups to take part in the fun at Broemmelsiek Park. In addition to the wagon ride, the Hayride Hoedown will present a light dinner, s’mores, and the foot-stomping, knee-slapping fun of Bobaloo.
To accommodate space on the hay wagons, capacity is limited to 40 participants per session. Sessions are offered at 6, 6:45 and 7:30 p.m.
Cost for this special event is $8.50 per person, and advanced reservations before Oct. 1 are required. To register your family or small group to participate in the Hayride Hoedown, call 636-949-7535 or visit www.stccparks.org.
