‘Twas the day after Christmas…ahhh

No doubt, there is something magical about Christmas Eve. Oh, the anticipation!
Christmas Day, of course, is sheer pageantry of color, food and festivities.
But, goodness gracious, in my eyes, nothing can beat the day after Christmas. Good old December 26. The work is behind us now as every entry on the mother of all lists has been crossed off.
Decorating—Done.
Shopping—Done.
Baking—Done.
Wrapping—Done.
But…the decorations still glimmer and leftovers abound. We catch our breath.
And just gander under the tree! Newly opened gifts promise a fresh year of projects to try, books to read, games to play and sweaters to wear.
Another kind of anticipation can be felt this day. December 26 is such an encourager, an optimistic soul.
He says, “2010 looks like fun. Let’s go.”
