Gossip from the Lake

For a report of the latest happenings back home, tune to KWMU Saturday evenings at 5:00 p.m. By “back home,” I mean Lake Wobegon, the fictional Minnesota town made famous by Garrison Keillor on his A Prairie Home Companion radio shows.
If you loved the show in the 80’s, sit around the radio on Saturday nights and listen in. Just like Lake Wobegon, A Prairie Home Companion hasn’t changed too much, you’ll be glad to know.
If you’ve never heard the radio show or have only watched the movie, you’ll be pleasantly surprised at how entertaining and comfortable an old-timey radio show can be. In addition to the News from Lake Wobegon segment, the two-hour show features a variety of musical talent, skits as well as advertisements from fictional sponsors.
Not hokey (OK maybe hokey, but in a cool way), A Prairie Home Companion delivers wit, giggles and sentiment oftentimes when the listener least expects it. You’ve got to be on your toes during this “slow-paced” program.
KWMU is located at 90.7 on the radio dial. Or visit www.kwmu.org and listen live.
