Doom and gloom? Not necessarily.

Bart Anderson, former editor of the Energy Bulletin website, recently appeared on Peak Moment. Watch the interview here.
Anderson wasn’t all doom and gloom regarding peak oil in this interview, which is refreshing. So many “peakniks” try to shock people into changing lifestyles. Often that approach backfires, paralyzing action.
You may wonder why these topics have any business appearing on a website all about St. Charles County. Well, living and buying locally as well as sharing and cooperating with neighbors are some definitions of the peak-ish buzz word “relocalize.” Relocalizing is heralded as ESSENTIAL for getting energy issues under control.
Imagine that--such worldwide concerns having a sporting chance of being solved at the local level. And haven’t we known all along how important being neighborly is?
Anderson throws around many names during this interview. Follow the links to learn more about these people and their work:
Sharon Astyk
Colin Campbell
David Holmgren
Richard Heinberg
Dmitry Orlov
Amanda Kovattana
Julian Darley
Carolyn Baker
One last thought…I realize many people don’t “buy into” peak oil or even climate change, but that’s OK. If someone is interested in saving money, country living, natural living, local living or even some aspects of vintage (retro) living, solutions to peak oil and climate change are sure to strike a few chords.
Sweet harmony.
