Capitol Report from Chuck Gatschenberger

Recently I was able to hold a Small Business Meeting with the National Federation of Independent Business, the EDC of St. Charles, Representative Sally Faith and many business owners in the Saint Charles area.

I am happy to report that the meeting was a success. Many of the local owners told me that they were glad to voice their concerns with the current state laws regarding small businesses and I hope that in our subsequent meetings, we can find some meaningful solutions that I can introduce starting in January.

I want to thank all the people who attended, and the members of our state government for discussing the options that are available right now to small business owners and what our Department of Economic Development can do for them.

Representative Gatschenberger Visits St. Louis Children’s Hospital (on wheels!)

Last month, I was fortunate enough to visit the St. Louis Children’s Hospital Healthy Kids Express (HKE), during the tri-county back to school fair.

The Healthy Kids Express is the first of its kind in St. Louis, benefiting the community by meeting the specific and critical needs of children at risk of not receiving timely medical care. The primary targets of the HKE are pre-schools, elementary and middle schools as well as other community sites.

Here are some of the services that are available to children on the HKE:
Dental, hearing and vision screens
Lead poisoning and iron deficiency testing
Immunizations and episodic illness care
Nutritional, fitness and other health education
Physical examinations
Medical and social services referrals
Health insurance and Medicaid enrollment services

Thank you again to the staff of the Healthy Kids Express for providing these services to the community free of charge!

Stay in Touch

As always, please let me know your thoughts about these or other matters of concern by calling my office at 573-751-3572 or by e-mailing me at chuck_gatschenberger@house.mo.gov.
